Are what these pests are commonly referred to in the inner city areas. So common they can be found most anywhere especially places that are damp and dark. Early evenings and throughout summer nights yo can find this roach scampering across the pavements and hiding stairs and lawns alike. We encounter these roaches in child care facilities, hospitals, restaurants, coffee shops etc.

The Mature female oriental cockroach/ waterbugs produce about 4-8 egg capsules during her lifetime, each of which will hold around 16 individual eggs.
leaving the egg capsules near food sources and they hatch in 80-90 days.
They reach sexual maturity after molting between 7-10 times over the course of 5-9 months.

This species of roaches cannot fly instead, they use their six legs to scuttle about.
Unlike German cockroaches, oriental cockroaches cannot climb up most vertical surfaces.
Generally, when an Oriental cockroach attempts to climb, it is very slow and could take several minutes. Both have long thread-like antennae that they use to sense food.

The oriental cockroach/ water bugs will live in basements, drains, sewers and in outside rubbish sources. In the homes they can be found under sinks in kitchens and bathrooms as well as places near a water heater, leaking pipes and damp crawl spaces. In developed areas Oriental cockroaches can be Found under outdoor stairs, grass lines around trees and landscaping where grass/soil meets concrete, mulch etc.

Note seeing roaches during the day is a sure sign of infestation. Roaches are nocturnal creatures, ventures in the day could mean the nesting areas are full
or a scout is looking for new next location or food has been found.
